  DEFINITION 
  BOAT OPERATOR I  
 Public Works Under limited supervision, operates a ferry boat transporting passengers across rivers when low water crossings are impassible; performs both routine and skilled heavy, physical work in the maintenance, repair and construction of roads; operates a variety of vehicles; performs related work as assigned.

 What You'll Do: Maintains the ferry boat, outboard motor, life jackets, and boat trailer to comply with all applicable safety standards; washes and cleans the equipment as needed; reports needed major repairs.
 
 Ferries passengers across the river.
 
 Maintains access to the boat landing; makes repairs as needed.
 
 Enforces applicable rules, regulations and practices for ferry boat passenger and operator safety.
