Job Description

A cashier's job is to process customer transactions, assist customers, and maintain accurate records. Cashiers may work in retail stores, restaurants, or entertainment venues.

Responsibilities

• Process transactions: Use a cash register to scan items, calculate prices, and collect payment
• Provide customer service: Greet customers, answer questions, and resolve complaints
• Bag and package items: Bag, box, or gift-wrap purchases
• Handle returns: Accept returns and exchanges for merchandise
• Maintain records: Keep track of transactions, receipts, and withdrawals
• Report discrepancies: Track transactions and report any errors
• Stock and clean: Stock shelves and clean the checkout area
• Verify age: Verify the age of customers when selling alcohol, tobacco, or lottery tickets
• Valid ID
