Perfusionist

Job Summary:

The incumbent will be responsible for performing perfusion on cardiac surgical patients and cell saver procedures on orthopedic, cardiac, and neurosurgical patients. All equipment, supplies, and documentation must be maintained in accordance with regulatory rules. Perfusionist responsibilities will constitute approximately 90% of the role, with cell saver activities representing about 10%.

• Perform selection of the perfusion circuit and prime solution to meet patient requirements, proposed procedures, and surgeon preferences.


• Prepare disposable and non-disposable components of the cardiopulmonary circuit for surgical exercises.


• Ensure the safety and function of the heart-lung machine, disposable circuit, and all related ancillary equipment.


• Manage patients on cardiopulmonary bypass with appropriate pharmacological interventions.
