The General Medical department at St. Anthony Summit Hospital is a 16-to 26-bed blended unit meeting the daily challenges of caring for patients with a wide array of medical conditions. Our department specializes in ICU, intermediate care, medical surgical and pediatrics. The average length of stay is 1.2 days, so patients turnover quickly on this unit. Most patients are tourists and are dealing with the stress of injury while on vacation. We all have a variety of duties and wear multiple hats because we are a small hospital. We treat a wide variety of patients and are the only inpatient department in the hospital, so all patients come to this floor.
